I am in Switzerland, I am Swiss and I love everything that is local, and why not even organic.
On the occasion of the Festi’Terroir in Geneva, walking along the marché set up in the very central and historic Parc des Bastions, animated by local producers and artisans in the name of sustainability and responsible consumption, I feel attracted by the color of this wine: a brilliant cherry pink tending to brick red. They are at the stand of the Domaine de la Devinière in Satigny in the Geneva countryside, and the wine is their Rosé 2019, a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir.
I want to try it, and now. Viande sechée from Grisons, pickled gherkins and spring onions and the “apéro suisse” is ready. So no Chasselas, I open and taste this Rosé. So what? It’s perfect! Red berried fruits, currants, cassis, but also light spice, pink pepper, not at all vinous (as some rosés often are) and in the mouth it’s quite fresh and soft, of good intensity and pleasant to drink. Very balanced, its acidity manages to compete with pickles without being too aggressive.
For me this Rosé is made for an aperitif, even better if in summer and on the terrace. I love this zero km Rosé labelled Biosuisse which makes it even more respectable. Santé!
