Etna is “a muntagna”, female, Idda (in Sicilian dialect, it means “She”), the Mother of the volcanoes situated in – for me – the most beautiful region of Italy, Sicily.
Thanks to “Idda” and its lava soil rich in minerals, together with its characteristic microclimate given by altitude and high temperature ranges, the vineyards undergo a slower maturation that leads to wines with a quality profile decidedly above the standard.

I am madly in love with this Sabbie dell’Etna, an assembly of Catarratto and Carricante expertly curated by the Firriato winery in their Cavanera Etnea estate.

The color is a bright straw yellow, the scent is an enveloping floral, wildflowers, chamomile together with a light fruity note of white peach. But the highlight is the minerality of this Etna nectar: its powerful sapidity accompanied by the right freshness makes it extremely pleasant. The right white wine for the summer: excellent with delicious starters, grest with fried fish.

I love you Sicily.
