You should never have prejudices, in general in your life, in particular if you are dealing with a glass of wine.
We are in Turin in a place that offers typical Piedmontese dishes and a wide choice of wines. And so we dare.
I tried a Niuru Maru 2015 – Salento IGT – L’Archetipo. It is a pure Negroamaro from Puglia region, organic label. A brilliant ruby red with a scent of plum and light notes of honey and caramel. Fresh, the right one, soft and not very tannic; the aroma is intense, the taste is persistent and finally an alcohol content below 14% vol (which is now rare for a red wine) that allows you a pleasant drink during the entire meal.
And I tasted it with a Piedmontese “vitello tonnato”, followed by a further traditional “brasato” braised beef and polenta: the pairing is successful, in both cases the meat goes perfectly with this Salento wine: North and South in total connection!
