Curious to try it as I am genetically from Piemonte region, I bought a bottle of Aglianico, specifically a DOCG Aglianico del Taburno.

Aglianico is a vine that thrives in the volcanic hilly areas of Campania and Basilicata, terroir that confers an elegance and a structure such as to be called “Barolo del Sud” (Barolo from the South).

And so I put on the table (rigorously in the company of friends) this bottle of Aglianico del Taburno 2016 from the Fattoria La Rivolta.
The color is a splendid ruby red and the scent is very enticing: notes of ripe cherry, plum and blackberry which in the mouth are perfectly accompanied by a slight freshness and a correct softness. The tannins are perceived (I would have to wait another couple of years to taste it at its best), but combining it with a grilled entrêcote parisienne with chimichurri sausage did not disturb the drink at all.
A wine of excellent structure with organic label which basically remains a sign of strong commitment of the wine producer.

Satisfied with the choice, I must therefore admit that Piedmontese King Barolo has a very respectable Campanian cousin.
