I’m a fanatic of white wines, I’m in love with Friulian white ones.

Vespa Bianco Venezia Giulia IGT 2018, the workhorse of the Bastianich winery, is a (perfectly fitting) assemblage of Chardonnay and Sauvignon vines coming from a relatively late harvest (between September and October) and a ageing made partially in stainless steel, partially in oak barrels. The result is a flagship symbol of the Friulian terroir that indeed does not disappoint at all!

The color is an intense straw yellow tending to gold; on nose it is a surge of ripe fruit, pear pulp and lightly honeyed golden apple: after a few minutes you can perceive the floral note of wisteria and light citrus. In the mouth, there is a good minerality and a decisive freshness which both make the sip particularly balanced with the underlying softness. Very persistent and decidedly pleasant.
Perfect with grilled chicken and goat cheese, but I wouldn’t refuse it paired with Friulian ham.

Well, for me this is the wine perfect to celebrate the arrival of spring. Cheers!
