History and style: this is what can distinguish Ca ‘dei Frati.

History because we are now in the fourth generation of Dal Cero family.
History that began in 1939 with the transfer of Felice Dal Cero from Verona to Lugana di Sirmione located on the southern shore of Lake Garda.
History that continued by his son Pietro who actively participated in the creation of the Lugana DOC in 1967.
History that is kept alive by current grandchildren who persevere in maintaining a very high quality of their wines given by the respect for the terroir and the enhancement of their savoir-faire.
A story that is also told in a podcast available in their website.

Style because Ca ‘dei Frati has its own emblem, its bottle, its label.

I tasted one of their workhorses, the Lugana Brolettino: 100% Turbiana (or Trebbiano di Lugana), emblematic grape of the Lugana DOC that best expresses a bouquet of white-fleshed fruits such as pear and apple, but also slightly floral. The real characteristic of this grape that grows in the marly soils around Lake Garda together with its mild climate is its delicate minerality which makes the wine very harmonious with a long and clean finish.

Pleasant, very pleasant throughout the meal, perfect with vegetarian dishes such as soups, fresh cheese and fish or shellfish. I paired it with a grilled octopus with baked potatoes and peppers: the bitterness of the dish is well contrasted by the salinity of the Lugana and makes you want to drink it, sip after sip.

When I taste a wine like this, I like to imagine its vineyards and thinking that they are located closed to the one of the most beautiful Italian lakes, it gives me a certain sense of pleasure and relaxation. A bit like when, at the end of a day full of chaos, you sink on your sofa and listen to the best playlist of the evening: really a pleasant sensation.
