Ca’ Marcanda Magari 2019

It’s obvious, when you open a wine signed by Gaja, you know where you’re going: Angelo Gaja and his genius, his speeches that leave you speechless, just like his wines.

And then the name, “Magari” (translated in… “maybe”?): for me, originally from Piedmont, it is the imprinting of that farmers race of few words that lives by its hard work and does not even dare to dream… for that “magari”, in a single and simple word, expresses all that desire that for a moment leads you to fly… and then suddenly disappears and brings you back to the reality.

This Bordeaux blend made in Bolgheri does not disappoint expectations: beyond the harmony of aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and spice and a fleeting balsamic note, what strikes me is the softness: all the tannins in their place, no distortion: indeed, a combination of silk and minerality that leave a priceless aftertaste.

I like to think about the power of a wine that makes you dream, and imagine, and brings out that “maybe” thought that we all keep inside, and that in the end, dream or reality, makes you smile.
Let’s toast!
