The wines of the renowned Vietti winery, which dominates the Langhe on the hills of Castiglione Falletto, are viscerally linked to a name: Gianni Gallo. This artist from Dogliani, born and lived in an environment of land and vineyards, has signed the entire range of Vietti labels, from Moscato to Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba up to the label of the precious Barolo Riserva Villero harvest 1982. Indeed, it’s this Riserva Villero, produced only in the best vintages, which boasts of the famous “artistic labels” (among whose authors we can find for example Pier Paolo Pasolini, Oliviero Toscani, Renzo Piano) : an idea born during a dinner with friends in Vietti-Currado house around a bottle of Barolo. Among these friends there was also Gianni Gallo.
I love the attention to detail and above all the subjects of Gianni Gallo: birds, insects, trees, fruits, wildflowers (like this dandelion for Nebbiolo Perbacco) made with different techniques (etchings, drawings, woodcuts) to give life to nature and colors of Langa, just like Vietti wines.

Nebbiolo Perbacco of Vietti 2019 undergoes a 3-4 week fermentation in steel. It then stays in barriques and large barrels and subsequently ages in steel. Perbacco has a brilliant ruby red color and at nose it immediately releases the typical note of violet, followed by fragrances of juniper, humus and white pepper. The tannins bite on the tongue, it is a pure and clean red wine: I would say that despite being a young 2019, it is drunk very well and without pretensions. Excellent with truffle cheeses or game birds.
